Open collaboration
How open ideas work
Ideas on Clap Ideas are public by default. Here is what that means and how attribution is handled.
Ideas are public
Published ideas on Clap Ideas are visible to anyone — members and non-members alike. This is by design. Open visibility means more people can discuss, improve, and build from ideas. V1 does not support private idea pages.
Building from ideas
Anyone can create a project or event based on a published idea. This is called “running with an idea.” When you do this, the source idea is linked to your project permanently. The original idea author and contributors are credited.
Credit and attribution
Credit is tracked at every step. The original idea author is credited on every project and event that comes from their idea. Community members who contribute substantially — through comments, pathways, or research — are also credited in the Idea Room contributors section.
Before submitting patent-sensitive or confidential ideas
Ideas submitted to Clap Ideas are made public. If your idea involves details you consider confidential — trade secrets, unpublished inventions, or patent-pending concepts — think carefully before submitting. Public disclosure may affect patent rights in some jurisdictions.
Read our IP & Attribution Policy for full details. When in doubt, consult a qualified intellectual property attorney before submitting.
